Air Treatment
All compressed air contains water vapour. As air cools downstream of the compressor, this moisture condenses, causing corrosion in pipework, contaminating end-use equipment and dramatically reducing the service life of compressed air filters.
A refrigerated dryer reduces the pressure dew point of compressed air to typically +3°C, ensuring that under normal operating conditions no further condensation occurs downstream. This is the most cost-effective drying technology for the majority of industrial applications.
Fitting a refrigerated dryer upstream of your filtration train also significantly extends filter element life by reducing the liquid water load the elements have to handle.

Compressed air from the aftercooler enters the dryer, still carrying significant water vapour.
A refrigeration circuit chills the air to +3°C, causing water vapour to condense into liquid droplets.
The condensed water is separated and drained away (ideally via a zero-loss drain) before the air moves on.
The reheated, dried air exits at +3°C dew point, with no further condensation under normal operating conditions.
Benefits
Pairing tip: Fit a STERLING zero-loss drain on the dryer's separator bowl; it will only open when condensate is present, saving compressed air compared to a timed drain.
